At Covenant House Michigan, we understand that providing shelter, food, and basic needs to homeless youth is only part of the solution. These young people also have a right to safety, guidance, education and, most importantly, to be loved. We believe that it is our responsibility as a community to ensure that every homeless and trafficked young person has an opportunity to pursue their dream, because no young person deserves to be homeless.
National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week is held the week before Thanksgiving and in years past, Covenant House Michigan lights a candle for our youth at our annual Youth Homelessness Candlelight Vigil. As much as we want to be with our community on campus this year, we want everyone to stay safe. We are excited to announce we are hosting VIGIL 2020 as a virtual event on November 19, 2020, 6:00 p.m. As in years past, our emcees Amy Lange from FOX2 Detroit and Shannon Murphy from Channel 95.5, will be telling the story of youth homelessness, introducing our brave residents from Detroit and Grand Rapids and will feature special guests from across our community.
Please join us by registering on the next page. A link will be sent to you for the virtual event.
